Terms of Service

Last updated: …

These terms cover your use of FromSeat, currently a platform for ordering food and drinks at events from your seat, and for organisers and the businesses they work with (starting with caterers) to run that ordering. FromSeat is currently operated as a trading name ahead of formal incorporation; these terms will be updated to reference the registered company once that's complete, without changing the commitments below. As FromSeat adds more ways to help plan and run events, these terms will be updated to reflect what's actually available — by using FromSeat, you agree to these terms as they stand at the time.

1. Who can use FromSeat

You must be at least 18 to create an account, organise an event, or register a business on FromSeat. Guests can order without creating an account at all.

2. Your account

If you create an account, you're responsible for keeping your password secure and for anything that happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it.

3. Ordering as a guest

Guest ordering requires location access. We check your current location each time you place an order, add to or change an order, or report a missing plate, to confirm you're at the venue — none of these can be done without it, or from outside the event's location, and orders can't be placed outside the event's ordering window.

Only the person who placed an order can change it, cancel it, confirm that it arrived, or report a missing plate: that means the account it was placed with or, if you weren't logged in, the same phone or browser. An order can only be changed or cancelled before the kitchen has started on it. Reporting a plate that never arrived places a replacement order for the same items, which is subject to the same checks, to stock availability, and to limits on how many can be reported per seat.

Orders are placed directly with the business serving that event; FromSeat provides the platform they're taken through.

4. Organising an event

As an organiser, you're responsible for the accuracy of the event details you provide (venue, timing, guest count) and for your relationship with whichever business(es) you engage. The venue's map location — set from a recognised address, or from your device when you're at the venue — is what decides where guests can order from, so please make sure it's correct. FromSeat doesn't currently charge any fee to create or run an event.

5. Running a business on FromSeat

As a business on FromSeat (a caterer today, with other kinds of vendor to follow), you're responsible for the accuracy of your own listing, pricing, and stock levels, and — where you're a caterer — the ingredient information you provide, since allergen labels shown to guests are generated directly from it. New businesses go through a review step before they can be found or invited by organisers.

6. Payments

FromSeat does not currently process any payments on behalf of organisers, businesses, or guests. Any charges for food or drinks are a matter between the guest and the business directly. If this changes in future, we'll update these terms before it does.

7. Acceptable use

Don't use FromSeat to submit false orders, misrepresent a business, interfere with the platform's normal operation, use tools to fake your location or otherwise get around the checks that confirm you're at the venue, or attempt to access another user's account or data without permission.

8. Our content and intellectual property

FromSeat — including its software, design, text, graphics, menu library, dish photos, and ingredient and allergen information, and the way they are put together — belongs to FromSeat or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. All rights reserved. You may use FromSeat in the way it is meant to be used, but without our written permission you may not copy, reproduce, republish or sell any part of it; use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to collect content or data from it; reverse engineer it or try to extract its source code; or use it to build a competing service. FromSeat's name and logo may not be used without our permission. Nothing in this section takes away any right the law gives you that cannot be removed by agreement.

What you add to FromSeat — your menus, photos, event details and so on — stays yours. You give us permission to store and show it on the platform so that we can run the service, and you confirm that you have the right to upload it (for example, that you own a photo or are allowed to use it) and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

9. Our liability

FromSeat is a platform connecting guests, organisers, and the businesses they work with — we're not that business ourselves, and we're not responsible for the quality, safety, or accuracy of any goods, services, or information a business provides, including allergen information (see our Privacy Policy for more on this). To the fullest extent the law allows, FromSeat isn't liable for losses arising from your use of the platform beyond what's required by law.

10. Suspending or ending access

We may suspend or remove access to FromSeat for accounts or businesses that breach these terms, misuse the platform, or pose a risk to other users.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as FromSeat grows — including once our company is formally registered. We'll update the date shown alongside this page when we do.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
